Eating right

I know with all this talk about pushing your self, working hard and exercising makes me sound like a crazed health person. I am not going to lie, I really try and focus on taking care of my body. I really try to eat healthy and stay hydrated and a huge factor with why I do this is working out. I have pretty much accepted I am going to be running year round for the next three years of my college career with cross country, indoor and outdoor track. So if I am working out every day and putting up sixty mile weeks then what is the point of drinking pop or eating at Mcdonald's if it is just going to hurt my body and set me back from what I have already gained. I can tell a difference to. If I am not eating right I feel terrible on our workout days which could be anything to a 2 mile warm up and cool down with mile repeats between or a ladder where we start off with a 400 meter to an 800 to a 1200 to a 1600 and back down. So needless to say I would rather feel good on these workouts and finish them on time hitting my paces rather than cramping up and having dietary issues.

  1. I may be past my sports prime but I still do my best to eat right (that is the hardest part for me I love food). I do workout a lot more than any non-athlete I know. It is a commitment and it is very hard to do, at least for me it is.

  2. Yeah i understand. I love food too. I don't know what I am going to do when I graduate. I know I will still have some motivation to run, but not as much and running is the only reason I can eat so much.

  3. As a former football guy i cant help but be amazed at how you guys can just keep running and running and running like you do. I try to stay healthy as well though by doing more of a weight training workout with stuff like auxilary lifts that then build core lifts. after that I run between 2 to four miles. I repeat this bout 4 times a week and like you i stay away from fast food and have only drank pop a few times since jr high. good post man

  4. Yea, I know what you mean. During football depending on what I ate the night before often impact my practice. I especially had to watch what I ate during camp.
